Lenora's Christmas Fruit Ambrosia

This week we have a recipe submitted by a grandmother. Lenora's granddaughter receives WIC benefits. Her recipe is great because it uses many WIC ingredients.

Our favorite Christmas holiday recipe includes fruits which were purchased using the fresh fruit and vegetables voucher. My'Angel and I make a recipe called Fruit Ambrosia.

One good thing about this recipe is that you can make it to your family’s liking.

Christmas Fruit Ambrosia:

Number of Servings - 4

Prep Time - 10 minutes

Chill Time - 1 hour

Ingredients

apples

tangerines

pineapple

bananas

coconut flakes

fruit juice

Note: These are just suggestions. You can use whatever fruit you have on hand!

Directions

I let my granddaughter, My'Angel, wash the fruits which need to be rinsed. She slices the bananas with a plastic knife while I peel and cut up the other fruits. We put all the fruits in a plastic bowl and pour enough orange juice or pineapple juice to cover the fruits. We then cover and place in the refrigerator to chill and let the mixture marinate.

The Fruit Ambrosia is enjoyed on Christmas as a healthy and nutritional snack as My'Angel and the family are busy opening gifts and playing with toys.

We hope you enjoy this recipe with your family.

Enjoy. Bon appétit!
