A Momma Living Happy and Healthy

Two years ago after my doctor diagnosed me with being prediabetic, I was immediately referred to a nutritionist.

She taught me how important it is to have some type of fruit and veggies with every meal I eat, to help eat healthier carbs and minimize how much sugar I consume a day. Ever since that day I have been watching my nutrition by making healthier food choices. 


Now I make it a habit to eat fruits like bananas or apples with my breakfast and snacks, and veggies for dinner like string beans, broccoli, salad, or corn so that I can receive the nutrients I need.


As far as keeping my body healthy, I love exercising when I have the opportunity to, because it helps to bring down stress levels and it keeps me in shape. Also I allow my daughter to join me, and I find it's a great bonding moment for both of us. This activity helps us practice healthy habits together. I noticed her favorite exercises are when I squat and lift her up towards the ceiling and put her back down, and she loves seeing me do leg raises. So I make sure I do this with her at least once a week. 


When it comes to my mental and emotional well being, I enjoy getting my day started by having about 30 minutes of prayer time while everyone is sleeping. I even sit and meditate with relaxation music, and I meditate on scriptures to help motivate myself throughout the day. 


Lastly, every so often I love to write in my journal and write about how I am feeling. This helps me to release what's on my mind and encourages me to continue to move forward.


These are the ways I fuel my body, mind, and spirit as a happy wife and mother of 2 amazing children. When I practice these healthy habits, I am able to have the energy and strength I need to press my way throughout the day.

I am 36 years old and a mother of a 13 year old son and 1 year old daughter. I have a Bachelor's degree in English with minor in Journalism and I am a licensed massage therapist who loves promoting self-love and self-care.
